Learning #3. Communities are still developers’ go-to for knowledge
Despite AI’s rise, developers let us know that they still overwhelmingly rely on human expertise, especially when the going gets tough. When developers don’t trust AI output, 75% of them turn to other humans to get the knowledge they need.
Moreso, more than 80% of developers surveyed visit Stack Overflow—a hub of human-generated and vetted knowledge—at least several times a month. The top-ranked activity on Stack Overflow? Reading comments. That makes it crystal-clear that developers crave context and nuanced discussion, not just quick AI answers (that may not even be right!).

TL;DR for leaders
Community-driven and contextual knowledge is a critical asset to any organization. Developers don’t just need rapid-fire answers; they need trusted, peer-reviewed explanations. Answers and reasoning for company-specific questions are also usually nuanced, so you’d be sadly mistaken to think an AI tool can provide that out the gate.
Leaders need to invest in community platforms, peer-to-peer learning, and human-verified content to ensure their AI solutions are powered by human expertise, rather than replace it.
