Stack Overflow Expands Socially Responsible AI Ecosystem with Connector for Microsoft Graph

New Connector allows Stack Overflow for Teams users to increase productivity and limit context switching

NEW YORK CITY – March 26, 2025 - Stack Overflow today announced the availability of a new connector for Microsoft Graph that allows organizations to bring content from Stack Overflow for Teams into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Microsoft 365 Copilot and Search. This new connector is now generally available for both Stack Overflow for Teams Enterprise, and Stack Overflow for Teams Business tiers. The Stack Overflow connector for Microsoft Graph will index content in Stack Overflow for Teams, including questions, answers, and top answers by default, with options for more customized configurations.

Connectors for Microsoft Graph allow organizations to bring their third party data, and its content into their Microsoft 365 experience and the entire ecosystem by copying it into Microsoft Graph. From there, this content can be surfaced in Microsoft 365 applications using the Microsoft 365 Copilot search feature. This includes both Copilot chat and Copilot Studio, where organizations can build a custom Copilot and new agents.

With this Stack Overflow connector, developers will now be able to - directly in Microsoft 365 Copilot - ask their technical questions and receive a summarized response based on question and answer content from Stack Overflow for Teams (their trusted knowledge store). Benefits for users include:

  • Finding Answers Faster: Ask a question in natural language in Copilot, and receive a response based on question and answer content from the organization’s Stack Overflow for Teams instance that has been indexed by the Microsoft Graph connector.
  • Trusting the source: The response includes sources/links back to the Stack Overflow for Teams content used to generate the answer so users/developers can easily access additional context and information
  • Increasing accuracy of developer tooling: The Connector enables organizations to rely on Stack Overflow for Teams as the trusted knowledge store to deliver more accurate answers/responses based on content developed and validated by their teams
  • Increasing productivity & reducing context switching: Surface trusted knowledge from Stack Overflow for Teams right where engineering/development teams are already working. Developers can easily access trusted, validated knowledge from their organization’s Stack Overflow for Teams instance directly in Microsoft 365 Copilot; no need to switch between applications.

“We know that developers spend far too much time looking for answers - and once they find them, researching whether those answers are accurate and reliable. This Stack Overflow connector for Microsoft Graph ensures that developers remain in their flow state, not needing to leave and search for knowledge, ultimately increasing productivity and speeding up innovation as they can trust the answers from their trusted Stack Overflow for Teams,” said Prashanth Chandrasekar, CEO Stack Overflow. “This integration is yet another example of Stack Overflow’s Knowledge-as-a-service vision becoming a reality - making trusted knowledge from Stack Overflow and / or Stack Overflow for Teams accessible wherever developers are in their workflow, including in GenAI tools, through an integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot.”

The Stack Overflow connector for Microsoft Graph was first previewed at Microsoft Ignite 2024. This integration follows the release of a new Stack Overflow extension for GitHub Copilot announced at GitHub Universe. To learn more visit: https://stackoverflow.co/teams/integrations/
