Stack Overflow Business Products Win at Both API World & CloudX

NEW YORK CITY – September 4, 2025 - Stack Overflow today announced that for the second year in a row its data licensing product (formerly known as OverflowAPI) has won the API Award in the Best AI API category. Additionally, Stack Internal (formerly known as Stack Overflow for Teams) was selected as a winner of the 2025 CloudX Award in the Cloud Integration category.These award wins come during an exciting phase at Stack Overflow as the company is actively defining the next era of the platform, leaning into experimentation and innovation to shape the future of how developers connect, learn, and grow. We’re doubling down on initiatives that enhance collaboration, accelerate problem-solving, and provide new avenues for skill development.

In our fifteenth annual Developer Survey, our flagship survey that polls our global community on all topics important to those who code, we asked our users about their thoughts on the use of AI, and a striking pattern has emerged. For the third year in a row, we've seen the number of developers using AI tools in their workflow continue to increase, with 83% saying they use or plan to use AI tools in their development process this year, an increase over 2024 (76%). However, the lack of trust in AI tools also continues to rise with 46% of respondents saying they do not trust the output of AI, up significantly from 26% last year.

With the use of AI now ubiquitous and ‘AI slop’ rapidly replacing the content we see online, this trust gap is where the developer community can play a crucial role, providing a trusted human intelligence layer in the age of AI. We believe that this effort will not only strengthen this technology, but serve technologists as well building and cultivating community, providing new ways of learning, and unlocking career growth.

As AI models grow more powerful, so does the lack of access to validated, trusted, and up-to-date technical content. At Stack Overflow, we’ve pioneered an approach to addressing this existential problem within the information ecosystem called Knowledge as a Service (KaaS). AI’s future depends on building structured systems that capture, validate, and integrate new human knowledge. Platforms that prioritize expert-driven, community-validated insights will be essential to feeding the long-term success of AI.

• Stack Data Licensing is partnering with and working with the world’s leading AI labs and hyper scalers to increase performance, accuracy and attribution of AI solutions. In testing, we found that fine-tuning a 7b Mistral model with Stack Overflow data increased model accuracy from ~30% to ~70%.
• Stack Internal is an enterprise-grade knowledge sharing platform for developers that serves as the trusted knowledge engine that powers people and AI. This private work space is where high quality, human-validated knowledge and sophisticated AI features work together to support innovation and increase productivity.
